Amanda Weaver, LCPC

I have an eclectic approach in terms of therapy models. I believe every individual benefits from a different combination of techniques. As an individual grows and changes techniques must be adapted and change as well. My primary training is in cognitive behavioral therapy but I have done a lot of work with trauma, mindfulness, Adlerian, positive psychology, play therapy, etc. Ultimately I believe the client should feel empowered and supported while they strive to make changes, and that looks different for each client.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have experience with a wide range of challenges, including everything from emotional regulation in children to trauma, both long term and single incident. I have worked with many clients with anxiety and depression and have helped guide those looking to recover from the emotional difficulties caused by growing up in a dysfunctional family.

Looking for a new therapist can be an overwhelming task. I hope that I can work with you to make your transition more comfortable.

Experience

I completed my masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Johns Hopkins University. For the last three years I have been working with Villa Maria, a trauma and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) focused organization, where I worked with children as young as four, as well as with adults and families. I have experience with a wide range of diagnoses and strive to be skilled with a diverse array of treatment styles.
